Синтезатор Native Instruments Reaktor позиционируется разработчиками как окружение, которое «пользователь создаёт сам». Идея в том, что итоговый дизайн и возможности синтезаторов внутри Reaktor ограничены только фантазией и умениями музыкантов — при желании в окружении можно создать любой инструмент или эффект.
Несмотря на такой подход и упор на более профессиональную и шарящую в синтезе звука аудиторию, несколько лет назад Native Instruments выпустила дополнение Reaktor Blocks, состоящее из готовых компонентов. По задумке разработчиков, Blocks должен упростить процесс создания инструментов за счёт предзаготовок, а также размыть границу между проектированием схем и выстраиванием модульных взаимоотношений. Благодаря Blocks компании удалось привлечь новую аудиторию, и сделать Reaktor более дружелюбным инструментом без потерь в гибкости.
Несколько дней назад разработчики представили обновление Reaktor 6.3, добавившее возможность соединения компонентов синтезатора прямо в главном окне инструмента. Разработчики отказались от окон, схем и меню, отдав предпочтение более наглядному способу работы. Теперь для соединения и маршрутизации компонентов используются виртуальные кабели, которые пользователи могут свободно перетаскивать в интерфейсе для соединения модулей. Внешне процесс схож с реальной работой с модульными инструментами, а сам принцип взаимодействия во многом позаимствован у Propellerhead Reason.



Для реализации такого функционала разработчики добавили в Reaktor 6.3 новый режим интерфейса «Port & Wires». Помимо этого в обновлении появился новый формат пресетов .Rack, созданный специально для сохранения патчей. Новый интерфейс работает только с модулями Reaktor Blocks, а также «официальными» модулями для синтезатора от компаний партнёров.
Обновление явно создано по причине все большей популярности виртуальных модульных систем наподобие Cherry Audio Voltage Modular и VCV Rack, распространяющихся по модели «pay-per-module». Учитывая распространенность NI Reaktor и простоту работы с новым интерфейсом, у Native Instruments появляется неплохой шанс занять крупную долю на новом рынке.

This update provides a fully overhauled user experience for the Blocks framework. Most remarkable new features: new file format, called “Rack” file, allows to save patches with your DAW session, patching Blocks is now possible on panel and a search box makes browsing for Blocks more intuitive. The Blocks framework now also runs in free Reaktor Player, and is open for 3rd party products.

• ADDED New file format, called “Rack”. The new file format is specifically suited to the Blocks framework, and allows to save patches, including the wiring, in a very small file size to enable saving patches with the host chunk
• ADDED Patching on panel for Reaktor Full and Reaktor Player users in Rack mode

• ADDED “Visible on/off” property for terminal ports. The ports can now also have a user-defined image
